About Scarlet Shift

Scarlet Shift begins with one rule: you are bleeding out, and the enemies’ blood is your only hope of survival. Your life drains even when the arena is quiet, so aggression is not optional.

Shoot enemies to release the blood you need, then use a charged dash to cross the arena, dodge attacks and reach pickups. The two mouse actions create a constant choice between dealing damage and repositioning.

Each run continues through increasingly demanding waves, with upgrades helping you hold on a little longer. The pixel-art violence is stylized but bloody, and the goal is to push your best wave rather than finish a fixed campaign.

Quick answers

Scarlet Shift FAQ

Spoiler-light answers about gameplay, controls, modes and common first-run questions.

What is Scarlet Shift?

Scarlet Shift is a fast mouse-controlled survival shooter where your blood drains continuously and defeated enemies provide the blood that keeps you alive.

How do you play Scarlet Shift?

Shoot approaching enemies, collect the blood they release and use charged dashes to escape danger or reach pickups. Survive each wave and choose upgrades between rounds.

Why does your health keep draining in Scarlet Shift?

Constant blood loss is the central rule of the game. You cannot wait safely at the edge of the arena; you must defeat enemies and take their blood to extend the run.

What are the Scarlet Shift controls?

Use the left mouse button to shoot. Hold the right mouse button to charge a dash, then release it to move toward the cursor.

How do you dash in Scarlet Shift?

Hold the right mouse button to build the dash, aim with the cursor and release the button to surge in that direction. Dashing also costs blood, so timing matters.

How do you restore blood in Scarlet Shift?

Kill enemies and move through the blood drops they leave behind. Collecting those drops is how you offset the life that drains throughout a wave.

Does Scarlet Shift have endless waves?

Yes. It is built around surviving increasingly demanding waves and beating your best run rather than completing a fixed story campaign.

Does Scarlet Shift have upgrades?

Yes. Between waves you choose upgrades that can improve your ability to survive, shoot or collect enough blood as the pressure increases.

Do you need a keyboard to play Scarlet Shift?

No keyboard movement controls are required. The core game is controlled with the mouse through shooting, aiming and charged dashes.

Who made Scarlet Shift?
